Gua Sha (Graston/ IASTM)

What is Used in Gua Sha?

The gua sha professional uses a special tool to gently scrape the skin in a certain direction. While this may sound a lot like exfoliation, gua sha is very different from exfoliation and a lot more effective at rejuvenating the skin. The tool used has a  smooth edge that is designed to move gently across the skin without harming it. The gua sha tool is manipulated across the skin in patches, in one direction. In doing so, a light but firm pressure is also applied.

How Does Gua Sha Work?

Gua sha works by releasing toxins from the skin and loosening knots and tension in concentrated areas. This isn’t just anecdotal evidence, either. Recent clinical research has proven the benefits of gua sha as an anti-inflammatory treatment and immune system boost. And these benefits begin from day one of treatment, too. In addition, gua sha is non-invasive and pain-free! For those reasons, gua sha is certainly worth considering.
